If you’re like me, you’re probably looking at the calendar and asking: how did we get here this fast? Yes, November has dawned and with it, Southwest Florida — most definitely Sanibel and Captiva — are ready to celebrate big time (as in, three- to five-years later big time!).
So mark your calendars for:
Wednesday, November 12 | After Hours at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium
This is the first After Hours hosted by the Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce since 2020 — and it’s a great reason to be somewhere at 5 pm. That’s when the powers that be will cut the ribbon and welcome you to the newly-imagined Great Hall of Shells! Tickets are $10 per person and include a welcome beverage, ribbon cutting celebration and exclusive tour of the amazing Great Hall. Tickets must be purchased in advance here.
Thursday, November 26 | Thanksgiving: Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions
It’s time so say thanks for the many blessings and gifts in your life, so enjoy the day with fam, friends and football. (And go Pack go!)
Friday and Saturday, December 5 and 6 | Luminary Holiday Stroll, Sanibel and Captiva
Luminary weekend on the islands will be full of holiday cheer, laughter, friends, food, beverage, family, twinkling lights and — unlike anywhere else — that unmistakable Sanibel and Captiva vibe. The good times begin around dusk, so put on your walking shoes, grab those you love and join us as we celebrate the season!
Wednesday, December 24 | Christmas Eve Beachfront Celebration at Lighthouse Beach Park
Another “first time since” must-do event, as Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ returns to host the amazing Beachfront Celebration at Lighthouse Beach Park. Christmas stories, holiday hymns, the sound of waves washing ashore and a spectacular sunset, sung to Silent Night with candlelight. Do not miss this (see for details).
