Once upon a time about 30 months ago, along came a hurricane that would turn our worlds upside down. As the transition to January 2023 approached, it was clear that Southwest Florida’s path to recovery would be a long, long journey — meaning the turn of the calendar was far less ordinary than any in our history.
Hence, I opted out of “Happy New Year” and instead adapted a far more appropriate expression: “Happy Renewal Year.”
Today, the renewal and recovery of Sanibel, Captiva, Fort Myers Beach and our coastal regions continues with zeal and optimism (although some might wish for a bit more speed). And nowhere is that more obvious than in the real estate market here.
More and more homes and condos are completing renovations or construction every day. Restaurants, attractions and businesses continue to come online, old and new. And access to lodging, from beachfront resorts to vacation rentals, is showing positive momentum.
