Once upon a time, not too long ago, the residential population of Sanibel Island was around 6,000 adults and children. Then along came a Category Ridiculous hurricane and today — almost a year and a half later — it’s estimated that three out of four residents haven’t returned home. A goodly sum never will.
My family and I were among islanders who, in the early aftermath of the devastation, debated where our future would take us. Ultimately, thanks to the support of friends and blessings of insurance, we chose to rebuild our 100% tear-down home where we lived for 20 years and raised our three kids.
At this writing, we’ve now relocated four times while technically remaining homeless. Our neighborhood remains a mashup of now functional homes, seriously damaged homes under reconstruction, plus a good number of random vacant lots cleared of their debris.
So yes, I’m a homeless yet dedicated realtor who totally gets it — whether you’ve decided to part ways with hurricanes and islands, or are eager to start a new life in what’s still paradise, if not perfection.
How can my perspective help you?
Having a realtor who’s been here and lived through that means that whatever side of the fence you’re on, you have a partner in me who really cares about you, your hopes, your dreams and your future. And I mean that.
