It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas — in July. According to Lee County officials, property values are up and gaining momentum all across our coastal communities. And that's good news for everyone who's selling, as well as a call to action for would-be buyers.
As of July 1, the following positive trends have been reported:
- Sanibel's property values are increasing faster than expected due to now-rapid rebuilding of the island.
- Initial estimates projected a decrease, but final numbers show a whopping 8.15% increase in taxable property value for Sanibel.
- Much of the new construction value comes from rebuilt homes and condominiums coming online
- Other areas of the county beyond Sanibel and Captiva — Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs and Estero — all improved as well.
The bottom line as we see it? That light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train. It's the sun shining down on brighter days, today and tomorrow.
